Ever wonder what some of the CFSSP student recipients are doing now? Here’s an
update of what is happening with several students who are either in school now or
who graduated years ago!

Gabriel was the first recipient of the Connestee Falls Employee Scholarship awarded just this year. He is currently in his junior year at Bob Jones University majoring in information technology and very interested in IT cyber security. Gabriel made the Dean’s List in the fall semester!

Aleece, a 2003 recipient, attended Brevard College and graduated in 2005 with a B.A. in Health Science Studies. She attended medical school and realized she wanted to be a Physician’s Assistant. Her internship at Pardee’s emergency room sparked her interest in
women’s health. Aleece worked with Pisgah Urology here in Brevard for nine years and today she is living her dream as the founder, owner, and director of the Fosnight Center in Asheville, specializing in women’s health and urology. She reported that this was only possible with the help of the scholarship she received over 20 years ago.
Shannon Ropp, a 2022 scholarship recipient, graduated from Blue Ridge Community College a year ago with an NC Paramedic certification. She is currently working full-time with the Transylvania County EMS. She shared that life has been busy for her as she worked through Helene and the weeks following. She currently has plans to return to BRCC to finish her associates degree. Shannon reports that she often is called to Connestee and appreciates the scholarship that gives her the opportunity to serve our community.
Finally, here is a thank you note from Hunter Kinsey, who was awarded a scholarship this fall to Blue Ridge Community College:
"Thank you for accepting my scholarship application and awarding me the Connestee Falls Student Scholarship. Your scholarship will be truly helpful due to the recent impact of Hurricane Helene. My house flooded and we lost pretty much everything inside. It’s been extremely difficult, both mentally and financially, trying to move forward. I was not sure if I was going to be able to continue my journey at BRCC, but thanks to your gracious donation I am able to continue my education."
